Some Hanuman books, I found at The Strand Bookstore, NYC, a while back. These are tiny books, measuring 4" X 2 1/3" Like little art projects. And the back covers look like this:

About whom, a critic once wrote (I'm not sure which film): "To call the plot wafer thin, is to insult wafer makers from coast to coast." Yeah yeah, fathead critics ....
WHITE TRASH BOULEVARD by Gary Indiana ... Indiana, who is a very talented writer, deserving a cult following. (So follow him, won't ya? Just don't ask where.)
HISTORICAL TREASURES by Jack Smith ... Smith, who was another underground East Village filmmaker, best known for his movie, Flaming Creatures. He was obsessed with b-movie actress Maria Montez, which cracks me up. Nick Zedd mentions him in his book, too.He would shoot his elaborate historical movies right in his East Village apartment.

GUILTY OF EVERYTHING by Herbert Huncke ... Huncke, who was a druggy father to the Beats -- Kerouac, Ginsberg, Burroughs -- early on.

I need to emphasize that PERMANENT OBSCURITY is not "erotica," although it has BDSM overtones (leaning toward so-called "femdom"). It's really a dark comedy about bohemia and the difficulty of relationships (female/male and female/female) and finally the big question for anyone in the arts (or in the tabloid media): sudden fame vs. permanent anonymity. The style of the novel is inspired by '60s over-the-top sexploition films like those of Russ Meyer (FASTER PUSSYCAT KILL KILL, BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS) and those Something Weird Videos, like A SWEET SICKNESS and BAD GIRLS GO TO HELL [so-called “cautionary tales”]) -- updated to the Bush era (circa 2006).

Initially published small literary magazines, Richard Perez has also written for The New York Times (a newspaper he doesn't read.) His first novel, The Losers' Club (aka: The Losers' Club: Complete Restored Edition) has three foreign translations to date: Korean, Turkish, Italian.
